Hey! This is Pidgeon
Portrait photographer based in Chicago, but always available to travel. I love nothing more than working with a team of talented artists to bring my clients' creative visions to life (cliché, I know but I don't care it's the truth). Digital and film shooter, and I can get down with a little video too. Owner and operator of West Light Studio on the city's West Side in Garfield Park. Why I do this
I've been obsessed with cameras and photography since I saw my grandfather's 35mm camera as a child. When I take photos, it's one of the only times everything else going on in my life melts away and I'm completely at one with what I'm doing. Shooting photos, and looking at them afterwards, still makes me feel high every time.
How I work
We talk about the vision. Come up with a mood board together. Plan the day, location(s) and time. Assemble the right team (stylists, hair, MUA, assistants...). And then we shoot. Afterwards, we select your favorites and I edit and retouch your final deliverables by our agreed deadline. And yes — prints are available.
Fun Facts about me
I'm a 3rd generation Chicagoan.
I learned photography by winning a baking contest, which resulted in a free photo class.
I'm also an intersex public speaker, the founder of Too Cute to be Binary, and I run the Intersex Healing Club.
